Microchips help avoid the heartache of losing your best friend. A microchip contains a code that is linked to a national registry. This means that if your pet is ever lost, a ranger or vet can scan your pet for the microchip and access your contact details from the national registry.
We have the scanning technology to be able to easily identify your pet if they are brought to our clinic. Each year we successfully reunite many lost pets with their owners.

Keeping these details up to date.
It is in your pets best interest that you keep the details on their microchip up to date. If you have moved, changed phone numbers or are not longer in contact with the “Alternative Contact” person who you originally put on the form, then you will need to contact the company in which the microchip is registered to and update your details.
If you pets does happen to go missing, it is best to contact the microchip company and let them know they are missing.

NOTE: If your pet was originally microchipped in NSW, their chip will not be registered on any Victorian database. If this is the case, please call one of our clinics and we will help you get that same number on to a data base that is easy to access. A small fee will apply to the microchip company.

New Microchip Regulations
From the 1st of July 2019, it is compulsory for everyone who advertises or gives away a puppy, kitten, dog or cat in Victoria to have a source number from the Pet Exchange Register.
As of 1st July 2020, it is compulsory for you to supply the veterinary clinic with a source number, before we can implant any pet with a microchip. This includes any puppy, dog, kitten or cat that is being rehomed and not previously microchipped.
Source numbers are valid for one year and can be renewed annually for as long as you need it.
There is no fee to enrol during the first full year of operation. An annual fee will be introduced from 1 July 2020.
